Dune Dream

Sea oats are the first plants to colonize a new dune and start the race for survival for both the plants and the dune. Given enough time the oats will hold the sand in place against the waves and help the dune collect more wind-blown sand and grow larger. All we need to do to help the process is stay out of the dunes, a very fragile ecosystem. This creative photograph was made using the technique of intentional camera movement (ICM), in which the camera is moved on purpose during the exposure to impart an ethereal and painterly effect on the image.
